After two days of rain (really knocking down our temperature), this sunset closed off one day, commencing with one final rain, and then….
A blue so bright,a sun so warm, air so fresh and clear-we couldn’t help but be joyful!
Although these pictures were taken roughly a week ago, there were many things for which I must be thankful. Among these…
~ the top picture is Washington DC at night…I had a safe flight from VT to there, and during a five hour lay over caught up with many friends and family on the phone:)
~I was actually able to sleep a little on the first plane! I was very thankful for that!
~ the next few pictures actually glistened in the early morning sun and looked like little slivers of diamond on the window
~ once in Frankfurt,I met up with my roommate, and we spent the two and a half hour delay together:)
~I sat next to a really kind older man (probably my dad’s age,as he was going to his daughter’s wedding and she is my age)-in between dozing off, we talked a lot about India and weddings and Hindu traditions. It was great!
~ we made it safely to Delhi, through the Metro, and onto the train with all our luggage:) I lived up my very independent American woman-ness;)
~ after a nice breakfast on the train and a fairly relaxed ride, we made it to the other end where our boss greeted us and took us home
It was so nice to be done traveling after so many hours, and I was grateful to unpack and go to bed.
This picture will remind me of the blessings of today:
…staying at my big Brother’s house for the weekend with him and his wife
…saying goodbye to them this morning before they went to work
…being in America (I get to wear jeans here more than in India)
…seeing the water bottle and jeans and socks my mother gave me…I am so very loved (and spoiled)
…the sticker on the water bottle reminds me of my longest standing friend still living in Vermont
…my feet are propped on a coffee table (only an American would allow that! )
…that table is in the home of my adopted family in Mass
…their kitty has joined me on the couch
.. I got to see my Co youth leaders and several other wonderful friends from church
…I got some great insights from trusted mentors who care and pray for me often
God is indeed good.
I took this yesterday on I-90 heading west toward my brother’s house.
I drove through a white out in western Vermont, but was thankful to reach New York where the roads were clear…
The blue sky was a nice change from the dark clouds I started in
The sun shining down warmed the inside of the car much more effectively than the heat
I made it in good time and have a chance to rest before going to the next place next week
This picture shows my Nalgene tied to my hip, frozen solid because it was in the single digits when we went snowshoeing that day.
I was very grateful this day…
…that my best friend came up for the weekend to spend with me
…that my mom let us borrow her snowshoes and clothes to go
…that we had strength and energy to go tramping through the woods for two hours and didn’t freeze:)
…that we had hot chocolate when we returned
Although this picture is a few days old at this point, it reminds me of many reasons that I was thankful for it.
First, it was taken at my mother’s house…
On Christmas day…
After spending almost the entire day in my pajamas…
After attending and catching up with several friends at the Christmas Eve service the night before…
We also ate strawberry jello (a tradition in our family)…
Mom made gluten-free lasagna…
And Grandma’s fizzy sherbet drinks…
And being home for Christmas after being away.
God is good.
